Bravo series presenting Maria Cherednikova

With an aim to contribute to the Music Education framework in Nagaland, to bring exposure in the state from International artists and to inspire, Bravo Series- the first specialized Violin workshop and concert by an International artist in Nagaland began on April 15 which will continue till April 17. The workshop is being held at The Heritage from 3 pm to 6 pm and is open for registration.

Bravo Series is an initiation of Music Academy Kohima with an aim to contribute and build music and culture through bringing International artists and giving platform to our emerging talents.
This year’s series is collaborated with Symphony School of Rock.

A press conference held at The Heritage on April 15 with Maria Cherednikova, discussed on the Russian musician’s journey in music and experiences in Nagaland. Admitting that Nagas has a really big passion for music, Maria stated that the Bravo series is a good start for music to progress in Nagaland. The series which will witness the participation of six music schools and including independent teachers and students, Maria pointed out the essence of different groups working together which is important in music and to musicians.

“Develop your traditional music and not just classical western music.” says Maria who cites that every country has a different way in developing music but develops it with their traditions and culture. Adding that the sound of violin is one which touches the soul, Maria hopes that the city will come witness the concert and be a part of the musical culture of the state.

30 years old Maria Cherednikova is a performer, composer and improviser who started her musical journey at the age of 8 in Russia Art School. She has taught and performed in Germany, S Korea, Jordan, Spain, India, Russia, UK and is currently based in Dehradun, India as a music teacher.

The Bravo concert will be held at RCEMPA, Jotsoma at 4 pm where workshop attendees will play at the concert as a large Violin Ensemble while Maria will perform different genres of music ranging from Classical , Modern to Contemporary.

The concert will witness performances of local artists such as Nourhevilie Khate, Asin Shurhozelie, Kusazo Rakho, Akho Chielie, Chentisangla Longkumer, Vizokho Nagi, Megotono Chase. The schools participating in the Bravo series are Music Academy Kohima, Symphony School of Rock, Chielie Music Academy, Tune Symphony, Creative Music Academy, School of Music Kohima, Independent teachers and students.
