Strings Ensemble

Here at MAK, we endeavour to provide an environment that is conducive for higher learning no matter what level of music you start at. Inside these portals we nurture and grow dreams of all the students, irrespective whether music is pursued as a profession, or just as a hobby.

We provide a platform for creativity and self- expression through music both individualistic and as a team. A holistic way of teaching has been adopted to ensure that a student matures with versatility and expertise: private tuitions, ensemble participation and classroom education.

Ensemble participation is a key focus area because of the tremendous advantages associated with it

Social and emotional well-being

While practicing alone is important for mastering our own instrument, an ensemble provides the students an opportunity to be a part of a community that supports each other, and produce something beautiful. It is also an awesome way for peer learning, which is a proven method of learning.

Reinforcing what is learnt in private lessons.

Ensemble playing gives the student a chance to validate the techniques learnt and practiced in private lessons. It also provides a wonderful way for the student to understand the necessity of the various techniques and style of play, further inspiring them to hone their individual skills.

Organization

By being part of the ensemble the students would also know about the essentials required for conducting such events and the various logistics arrangements to be catered for.

Teamwork

Team work is essential in an ensemble and playing in one allows the students to consciously contribute to the greater good of the team, rather than showcasing one’s own talent. This develops qualities such as learning (rhythmic/tonal) balance, performance etiquette and also learning to listen (and non-verbally/musically) communicate with each other.

Watching a conductor

The conductor is the leader of the ensemble behind the coordination between the members of an ensemble or orchestra. It is crucial for the students to be able to understand the gestures of the conductor by being part of an ensemble the students would also learn about this.

Experiential Learning

The basics of music such as structure, dynamics, expressive techniques, tone colour, pitch, rhythm are all stressed upon for development of a musician. By playing in an ensemble the students gets an opportunity to put his learning to the test.

MAK is proud to offer courses on ensembles in a variety of subjects –  Violin, Voice, Guitar, Percussion and Mixed Instrumentals etc… We desire to unlock the potential and creativity that lies in every student by tapping on to the music that lies in everyone’s heart. A great “working environment”  produces great work, and we firmly believe it is right here at MAK!
